Onboarding

Sign in at app.jobably.com with Google, Microsoft, or an emailed one-time code (if a code doesn’t arrive, hit Resend on the same screen — the newest code is the one that works, and check spam). Fresh accounts land in a four-step wizard.

1. Upload your resume

Drop a docx, pdf, md, or txt file. Jobably parses it into a structured profile — name, headline, contact, sections — and shows you the parse for review before anything else happens, including the full parsed text in an expandable view so you can confirm nothing was lost in translation.

This parsed profile is the raw material for tailoring. Every tailored resume is built only from what’s actually in it (plus your accomplishment bank), so the better this document, the better every artifact downstream.

You can skip this step and upload later from the Resumes tab.

Choose your path: form or AI chat

After your resume, pick how to answer: the classic form below, or a chat with the AI interviewer — plain-language questions, one at a time, with “skip” always accepted. Both paths gather exactly the same details, and the chat only offers “Create my profile” once every topic is covered (21 in all). You can switch from chat to form at any point and keep everything you’ve answered.

2. Set your bar (the questionnaire)

The questionnaire is the single authority on targeting. Everything derives from it — the scoring rubric, what surfaces, what gets flagged:

• Seniority floor — roles a full rung below score at most 4. The ladder covers every function, from senior individual contributor through C-level — not just engineering.
• Preferred locations — a ranking signal, never a filter. A strong fit in the wrong city still surfaces, with a location note in the rationale.
• Work arrangement — pick as many as apply (e.g. remote and hybrid). Again: preference, not a filter.
• Compensation floor — postings that state less are marked; silence is treated as unknown, not failure.
• Industries — both the ones you prefer and the ones to avoid; an avoided industry is a strong mark against, never a silent filter.
• Title keywords you want — titles that should count strongly in your favor, with OR/AND if you like ("VP of Engineering" OR "Head of Platform").
• Excluded title keywords — titles that disqualify regardless of employer (e.g. “sales engineer” when you want platform work).

Saving builds a versioned rubric. You can read the exact rubric text on the Profile page — what you see is literally what the scorer is told.

3. The interview (optional, worth it)

Ten open questions, one at a time, all skippable: your story, what a great next role looks like, non-negotiables, dealbreakers (including the tell in roles that only look right), what your resume undersells, what you never want to do again, company preferences, and any location or compensation nuance the checkboxes can’t capture.

Skip anything you don’t have a view on — a blank answer is more useful than a guessed one.

Your answers go into your scoring rubric word-for-word — the scorer reads them as first-hand requirements, so plain and specific beats polished (“Remote or Charlotte. Base over $180k. No pre-Series B startups.”). It’s the single biggest thing you can do to sharpen your match scores, and every answer stays editable on the Profile page.

4. Create your first search

Name it, build the query with the guided builder (or write it by hand in Advanced mode), pick sources, and finish. The wizard queues the first scan immediately; a progress card on the dashboard shows it running and updates by itself when the first matches land — usually within minutes. After that the search runs on its own cadence (every 6 hours by default; hourly on Executive).

Along the way you’ll also get a welcome email when you join and a what-happens-next email once onboarding completes, so the autopilot part is never a mystery.
